THE BACK STORY: Formed originally in 2007, with 10 member companies, the objective of the In-Store Implementation Sharegroup was to better understand the economic and brand impact of insufficient in-store compliance and merchandising  practices and to propose a path to improvement.

After more than a year of collaborative study, the group released a working paper, In-Store Implementation: Current Status and Future Solutions, in April 2008. It argued in favor of a collaborative, industry-wide initiative aimed at closing the implementation gap. The document proposed a path toward greater cooperation between retailers, manufacturers and third parties that would ultimately enhance the customer experience and industry profitability.

Coverage was immediate in the business press, resulting in more than 1,000 downloads and numerous presentations at industry events.
